Macaroni Kid Scranton is excited to be working with the Play and Learning Lab at the University of Scranton. The Play and Learning Lab studies how children learn, play, and use media. The lab is under the direction of Dr. Emily Hopkins. Would you like to get involved with the lab and also learn more about how your child plays? Go here to fill out a form for more information. At this time, they are conducting studies in a virtual way.
Parent/Child Play Study: In this study, we will be exploring how parents playfully interact with their 3-4-year-old children. Parents and their child(ren) will be recorded playing as they normally would in the home for 15 minutes. Parents will also be asked to complete 2 questionnaires: one where they rate themselves on a number of characteristics (e.g., helpful), and another where they rate how they and their partner divide parenting tasks and chores at home. This study, therefore, has two components: an online survey (which should take about 5-10 minutes) and then a 15-minute video conferencing play session. Parents of all genders and sexual orientations are welcome to participate.
"Who Does What?': Parents are eligible for the study if they have one or more children under the age of 18, and are living and co-parenting with a partner. Parents of all genders and sexual orientations are welcome to participate. At the end of the survey, they will have the option of providing their contact information to be entered into a drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card. This information will be stored separately from their survey responses.
We want to thank the Play and Learning Lab for giving our readers this opportunity.
