Find Out Where Free Meals Are In Your Community With a Simple Text

Text ‘FOOD’ or ‘COMIDA’ to 877-877 to find free summer meals sites in your area

February 5, 2021

For kids who rely on the free meals they get at school, summer can be the hungriest time of year. Many kids who come from low-income families don't have enough to eat during the summer months.

But there are free summer meals programs at schools and community centers around the country all summer long.

Many families and kids do not even know these programs exist, however. To raise awareness, No Kid Hungry runs a summer meal texting service. Parents, grandparents and caregivers nationwide can simply text ‘FOOD’ or ‘COMIDA’ to 877-877 to find free summer meals sites in their neighborhoods.

To increase awareness of summer meals sites, No Kid Hungry will be hosting events in San Francisco, Calif., Springdale, Ark., and Dallas, Texas, during Share Summer Week, June 17-21. The events will include fun activities such as face painting, games, giveaways and more.
