Bear Creek Resort: A Ski Adventure Close to Home

February 23, 2020

Nate Berkus said, “You will enrich your life immeasurably if you approach it with a sense of wonder, discovery, and the willingness to try new things”. The last time that I went skiing I was in grade school so it was definitely new for me! Check out our video here. Learn more about Bear Creek here and SkiPA here.

One of my goals for 2020 is to try out new adventures. When I saw the email about the Bear Creek ski trip, it was the perfect opportunity. A bonus is that my best friend and her daugther ski and my oldest daugther wanted to try it! A win win in my book!

Bear Creek makes it easy for beginner skiers to feel safe and comfortable on the mountain with 2 hour lessons. As a parent and novice skier, I love knowing my daughter will have the knowledge and skill she needs to enjoy her time skiing.  Our instructor was patient and explained every aspect from ski vocabulary to skill. The lesson are set up so skiers can go from one station to the next. My daugther was able to easily progress to the more advanced stages. The advantages of being a youth! Students in the ski school ranged in age from toddlers to senior citizens. The ski school area was roped off and this eased my safety concerns.

Bear Creek offers four separate  trails for snow board. I found this to be helpful for both the skiers and the snow boarders. The mountain has 23 total slopes with levels of beginner, intermediate, and advanced. All the trails are lighted too which I found to be helpful. Bear Creek also hosts NASTAR Recreational Ski and Snow Board races. I would love to return for a NASTAR Race.

This resort also offers three unique restaurants. We had the chance to eat at Trails End and it did not disappoint! We loved their specialty pizza! It satisfied even the picky eaters in our party. I heard rave reviews about the Mountain Eatery as well. The mountain eatery serves sandwiches, wraps, Mexican food, and other goodies to satisfy your taste buds while you refuel for the slopes.

My favorite part of Bear Creek is that it brings together families of all ages and sizes. It can be difficult to find a vacation that has activities and fun for all ages. I was thrilled to find this in a town that is an hour from Scranton and Philadelphia. Winter sports grant us the ability to enjoy the beauty of this season and it forces us to keep the technology away.
