Disney Travel Tips

February 21, 2018

So, you have booked your Disney Vacation and everyone is excited, now what?  The first thing to remember is that a Disney vacation is not the relaxing vacation that you may think.  It can be hectic and stressful, but knowing what to expect and how you can make it easier for you and your family will.

Here are a few tips to help you and your family navigate and enjoy all that Walt Disney World has to offer:

1.  Book your vacation as early as possible so you have the best selection for your Disney Fastpass and Disney dining selections.

At 60 days out, be on-line at 7AM to schedule your fastpass ride selections.  Remember, every ride is not for every person.  Be wary of height restrictions, as well as thrill aspect and other precautions for riders.  Research the rides your family is looking for ahead of time.

The rides listed below are some of the ones you may want to consider booking first.

Magic Kingdom

       Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

       Peter Pan’s Flight

       Splash Mountain

       Space Mountain

       Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Epcot

       Frozen Ever After (Tier 1)

Soarin’ Around the World (Tier 1)

Test Track (Tier 1) – single rider recommended instead

       Spaceship Earth (Tier 2)

       Mission: Space (Tier 2)

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster (Tier 1)

       Toy Story Mania (Tier 1)

       Tower of Terror (Tier 2)

       Great Movie Ride (Tier 2)

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Avatar Flight of Passage (Tier 1)

       Kilimanjaro Safaris

       Expedition Everest

       Dinosaur

2.  The Happily Ever After Fireworks Display introduced last year is still very popular.  A map is available of the best and worst viewing spots so pick your spot and get there 45 minutes early for best viewing.  While, the best place for viewing Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is between the 2 gift shops as you enter the World Showcase.

3.  Family photo’s taken in the front of Cinderella’s Castle are most popular, however the back of the castle is much prettier and may not be as congested.

4.  Be sure to experience “A Kiss Goodnight” at least one of the nights that you are there.  This magical event occurs every 30 minutes after the Magic Kingdom park closes.  Cinderella’s Castle dances with lights and music accompanied with a special message from the Disney family.

5.  Just because the parks close, that doesn’t mean that the attractions close.  You can get in a 90-minute line at 10:59 p.m. when the parks close at 11 p.m. and be in the park well past closing. This is a great way to experience rides that always have long lines, like Frozen Ever After, Avatar Flight of Passage, or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train without wasting “valuable” time.
